Dr. Lawrence Ellerby has more than three decades of forensic and clinical experience. He provides assessment, treatment, consultation, and professional training for individuals and organizations managing complex trauma, high-risk behaviour, interpersonal harm, and the psychological consequences of demanding work.
Dr. Ellerby has longstanding expertise in the assessment and treatment of sexual, violent, and high-risk behaviour, including work with individuals with mental-health concerns, developmental disabilities, and complex needs. His clinical practice also supports people affected by trauma, secondary and vicarious trauma, addictions, emotional dysregulation, problematic coping, anxiety, depression, and occupational stress—particularly professionals in criminal justice, child protection, health care, mental health, and public-safety environments.

Dr. Ellerby’s extensive advisory work includes serving as a consultant for the RCMP’s D Division Crisis Negotiation Team, a member of the External Advisory Council on Sexual Misconduct for the Department of National Defence, and a member of the Independent Review Committee on non-natural deaths in custody for the Correctional Service of Canada. He is a past Chair of the ATSA Review Committee for Best Practice Guidelines in the assessment and treatment of men who have committed sexually abusive behaviours. As a Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Manitoba, Dr. Ellerby is dedicated to advancing clinical standards, having published extensively and provided training across Canada, the United States, and Europe. He is a recipient of the Canadian Criminal Justice Association’s National Crime Prevention Award.
